Livermore Homes and Real Estate

Livermore is home to some of the best wineries in the State. With it’s warm Mediterranean like climate, early settlers including Robert Livermore, where the city of Livermore gets it’s name, grew wine grapes as early as 1846. For many years after the establishment of the San Jose Mission, the area was grazing lands for the thousands of cattle supporting the mission settlement.

Today, Livermore is considered the easternmost city of bay area. It has always been a gateway town between San Francisco and San Jose to the Central Valley. During the gold rush it was a perfect stopping point for a days journey from San Jose to the gold country. Many hotels sprang up in where today’s downtown is.

Starting around 1930, the area slowly developed into a rural suburb. Today it ranks 3rd of the wealthiest midsized cities in the US with a population of around 90,000.

Livermore has a variety of homes to offer. With it’s long history, it has neighborhoods of older quaint homes, along with homes built in the 60-80s which are often standard ranch style subdivisions. More recently many upscale Million Dollar neighborhoods have sprung up. People who live in Livermore range from blue collar to highly paid professionals working at the Lawrence Livermore Lab.
