Fremont is made up of 5 different communities that came together in 1956 and incorporated themselves as Fremont. One of the communities, Centerville is home to the largest group of Afghans in the United States. While the Mission Area is largely dominated by the largest concentration of Asian Americans in the East Bay.
In the early 1900’s The Niles Canyon area was the site of California’s Fledging film industry before it eventually settled in Hollywood. Several of Charlie Chaplin’s early silent films were filmed the. Today the Niles Canyon is a scenic canyon with a train that carries passengers on weekend excursions, including a holiday ‘train of lights’ which is extremely popular.
Fremont is situated just to the north of Silicon Valley and is often thought of as a part of Silicon Valley. It is home to headquarters to several high tech companies and recently the old General Motors Facility was put to use to build the new Tesla Motors Electric Cars.
One of the big reasons Fremont is considered a great place to live and raise a family is the school system, considered by many as one of the finest in California. Combine that with a family oriented Central Park, close proximity to the high tech capitol of the world and the southern most BART station, it is a great place to look to buy a home.
