Danville homes are some of the most expensive in the Bay Area. There are several great communities in Danville including some gated country club areas such as Blackhawk and Crow Canyon. Danville, a wonderful town in the San Ramon Valley area, is know for it’s great schools, great downtown and prefect climate.
Originally a farming community started when brothers Danial and Andrew Inman bought 10,000 acres in 1854. In 1891, Southern Pacific Rail Road built a spur line though the area and the local farming community switched from wheat farming to raising fruits and nuts.
In 1947, the first large housing tracts began being built and by the 1970’s and 1980’s 2/3 of the population expansion had occurred. Today there are about 42,000 people living in Danville with the make up being about 86% White, 4% Hispanic, 1% Black, 9% Asian. The median family income in 2007 was over $147,000.
There are 2 main high schools in Danville, Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley High School. Together they have about a 98% rate of graduates going on to college. One of the main reasons people choose Danville as a place to buy a home, is because of the great schools but the vibrant downtown area with it’s many restaurants and saturday farmer’s market are also big attractions.
There are a variety of home communities in Danville, ranging from horse properties to golf course patio homes. There are high end gated areas such as Blackhawk (one of the nicest home communities in the entire bay area.) to very affordable condo and town-homes.
